JUNG HWAN SUN

Artist Statement

I have expressed the reality space using 'contrast between the drawing technique of East and West'. For the expression of modern civilization in a westernized society I used the materials and drawing techniques of the Western painting. And for the expression of the products of traditional culture image  I used the materials and drawing techniques of the Eastern painting. To express the bifunctional aspects of lives of modern Asians who combine the traditional methods and the western lifestyles I used both  drawing techniques on a Korean paper 'Hanji'.

Through contrasting them, I tried to express our social issues in a metaphorical way.

But after that,  Becoming have respect for the differences of two cultures, I am paying attention to the harmonious use of two drawing techniques.
