START.net은 한국 작가들이 세계미술시장에서 경쟁력을 가질 수 있도록 뒷받침하는 인프라를 구축하기 위해 출범하였습니다. 아트페어, 옥션에 진출하더라도 프로모션 시스템 부재로 작가가 지속적으로 성장하기는 쉽지 않습니다. 아티스트 프로모션 기획사인 아트와는 영국의 PCA와 싸치갤러리(Saatchi Gallery)의 글로벌 아이 프로그램(Global Eye Programme)을 한국의 세계적인 IT기술과 접목하여 온라인 영역으로 확장합니다.

영국 싸치갤러리(Saatchi Gallery)에서 한국 작가들의 세계시장 진출을 위한 교두보가 될 START.net과 Korean Eye 론칭 특별전을 9월12일~16일에 Saatchi 전시팀과 ARTWA 공동 기획으로 진행합니다. ARTWA에서 이 프로젝트에 대한 설명자료와 함께 참여작가 작품을 전시하고 있습니다.

Ung Pil Byen was born in 1970, and currently lives and works in South Korea. He first did his BFA in fine arts at Dongguk University, South Korea, and then moved to Germany. After obtaining his MFA at the Academy of Arts in Muenster, he then
continued his studies with Prof. Guillaume Bijl in Germany and turned into a master student.
The artists’ self-portrait series explores the border between beauty and ugliness, racism by colour, biased attitude against gender, and judgmental thinking due to one’s social status. He questions whether if anyone could ever be free from these
bias and prejudice, including himself.

The artist believes that the value of art does not stem from thedesire of consuming its external beauty, but from the thrivingartist’s productive process overcoming the conventional aesthetic consciousness. He questions the gap between the value of art and reality, with the co-existence of beauty and deformity in his works.

D Hwang was born in 1969, and obtained his BFA in fine arts at Parsons School of Design in 1997. After graduating he moved from the USA to South Korea. D Hwang's painting does not comply any art movements, concepts, or direction. Rather he believes that the visual we receive from our retina is just an illusion. Therefore, realism and abstractionism is an illusion.

Yun Guk Jo was born in 1985, and currently lives in South Korea. He obtained his BFA and MFA, as a sculptor, in South Korea at Gangneung National University in 2013. The artist’s view on the individual’s personal space and the external environment has
changed as he faces the universal problems in people’s lives and in modern society. Jo’s own style of three-dimensional relief sculpture, freed him to mix concepts with abstract expressions.

Myong Kyu Kim was born in 1970, and obtained his BFA in fine art first at Hongik University in South Korea. He then moved to Paris and did his BFA, MFA, and Ph.D at Paris 8 University.
The artist questions the reason of the human existence and the environment that surrounds human beings. He believes that the eternal truth depends solely on God’s will. Therefore in his view, humans are flawed in time and space, and that only God knows the unchanging truth.

Hak Lee was born in 1982, in South Korea. He studied fine arts at the Academy of Art University (CA, USA), and obtained his BFA in 2013. Hak Lee explores the ‘Human Time and Experience’ in his works. His paintings attempt to communicate the individuality, or relationship of ‘time’ and ‘experience’, and their unique perceptions to every person. Lee’s canvas pushes the limits of one’s own visual expression as a colour weakness (色弱), making his works stand out from many other paintings.

Sea Hyun Lee was born in 1967, obtained his BFA and MFA first at Hongik University, South Korea and then moved to London and obtained his second MFA at Chelsea College of Art and Design.
Sea Hyun Lee's painting series <Between Red> seems like a beautiful Utopia at first glance, but at the same time it also elivers a human-destructed distopia. Lee enables the audiences to face the bitter reality of Korea, the only divided state until this day, and leads the spectators to rethink about the destroyed territory. The viewers can track the artist's deep concerns, beyond the restrictions that he had faced by using only one colour.

Kyung Min Nam was born in 1969, and obtained BFA and MFA at Duksung Women’s University in 1999. She currently lives and works in South Korea. Kyung Min Nam’s works, at first glance, catches people´s eye through the vibrant playful colours and objects that appears on other Masters’ paintings. She reproduces with her imagination after deeply studying and visiting other masters’ studios. Mirroring and reflecting the images magnifies the unrealistic scenery. The butterfly is a symbol that breaks the line between reality and fantasy.

Ko, Kown was born in Jeju in 1980, obtained his BFA at Jeju University and his MFA at Hongik University.
The years of 2008 to 2017, Ko, Kwon’s works showed how his practice matured. During this period, through his ten distinctive themed solo exhibition, he experimented and developed with the process of change on the subject matters or topics that attracted him. He believes that all the living beings in the cosmos are a marvelous creation of nature that proves the evolution of life. Therefore, he insists on clearly manifesting his belief that ‘every creation has value and beauty’ through his works
